What a way to wrap up the school year! Today we ce What a way to wrap up the school year! Today we celebrated the last day of school with our annual Sports Day at Wildflower Playfield.

Led by our amazing Coach Russell, students teamed up in their Family Groups, sporting their repurposed tie-dyed Jog-a-Thon shirts and carrying their colorful team signs from event to event. The day was full of fun, energy, and outstanding sportsmanship as they played capture the flag, football, soccer, tennis racket baseball, kickball, and doctor dodgeball.

We ended the celebration with a well-earned popsicle party before students were dismissed into summer vacation.Wishing all our students a safe and joyful summer! We can’t wait to see everyone back in August. And to those heading to new schools—you will always be part of the St. Patrick’s family. Come back and visit anytime! #schoolsoutforsummer☀️ #sportsday #summerbreak
Today in Chapel, we shared this tribute video in h Today in Chapel, we shared this tribute video in honor of Reverend Sarah, who has been a guiding light at St. Patrick’s since 2008.

While we are overjoyed for her and this historic opportunity—she will be the first woman to serve as full-time priest at Calvary Episcopal Church in Seaside, Oregon—we will deeply miss her calm presence, joyful spirit, and the wisdom she has so generously shared with our community. 💚

Over her 18 years with us, Reverend Sarah cultivated a vibrant interfaith chapel experience rooted in compassion, inclusivity, and shared values. Her ecumenical vision has shaped the hearts of countless students, families, and faculty—and that legacy will remain.

As she begins this next chapter in Oregon, we know the spirit of St. Patrick’s and our beloved Community of Kindness will go with her. We love you Reverend Sarah and thank you for all you have given us.
Today we held our final Chapel Service of the scho Today we held our final Chapel Service of the school year—our beloved Moving Up and Moving On Chapel.

We celebrated students rising to new grades and those heading off to new adventures. We also took a heartfelt moment to thank four incredible members of our community—Mrs. Stover, Mrs. Maartens, Ms. Meloni, and Ms. Benjaminsen—for their dedication and the joy they brought to our school. We wish them all the blessings in the world as they begin their next chapters.

During our Moving Up ceremony, each class stood and moved to the seats they will occupy next year in Chapel, symbolizing their growth and new responsibilities.

We ended the service with deep gratitude for Rev. Sarah, who has served St. Patrick’s for 18 faithful years. A special tribute video (shared in a separate post) honored her ministry, and Father George offered a beautiful blessing as she steps into her next calling.
🎓💚 Today we celebrated our second annual Cla 🎓💚 Today we celebrated our second annual Clap Out—a heartwarming St. Patrick’s tradition where our alumnae who are graduating high school return to campus for one more walk through the halls!

This year, the Class of 2019 came home to St. Pat’s, starting with a visit to the Kindergarten Readiness classroom, where they answered questions from our youngest students about their time here. Then it was off to the sport court, where Coach Russell and the middle schoolers welcomed them—and before long, an impromptu game of Doctor Dodgeball broke out!

They also got to see our beautiful new amphitheater, which didn’t exist during their time at the school. And finally, the whole student body lined up to cheer them on in a full-school Clap Out, followed by hugs, laughter, and sweet reunions with former teachers and friends.

Once a Saint, always a Saint! 💚

This morning we held our final Monday Assembly of This morning we held our final Monday Assembly of the school year — and what a special one it was!

There were recognitions all around — for students and staff who’ve poured their hearts into this year. But one moment that stood out was celebrating our incredible students who ran in yesterday’s Love Run, benefiting Senior Concerns and their Meals on Wheels program. We were honored to welcome Julie Harvey from Senior Concerns, who shared how our fundraising efforts directly support local seniors in need.

We also held our Yearbook Dedication, a tearful and heartfelt moment. This year’s yearbook is dedicated to Leslie Miller, our beloved art teacher who passed away in August. The theme, Growing Together in Kindness, couldn’t be more fitting. Leslie lived that theme every single day in the way she taught, loved, and inspired her students.

We miss her deeply and carry her legacy forward — with kindness, creativity, and heart.
Our sixth graders have been exploring the concept Our sixth graders have been exploring the concept of Servant Leadership this year, learning what it means to lead by putting others first. They studied a range of individuals and organizations who are committed to helping others as part of their everyday lives.

As part of this learning, students were challenged to create a Social Enterprise project—an idea for a business or nonprofit that uses their own talents and interests to make a positive impact in the community. The goal was to develop something they could realistically launch now, not twenty years from now.

Today, they presented their projects to classmates and a panel of staff members. Their ideas were thoughtful, creative, and filled with purpose—a true reflection of what it means to be a servant leader.

Here’s a glimpse of some of the inspiring work we saw today.
This morning, Rev. Sarah joyfully welcomed and int This morning, Rev. Sarah joyfully welcomed and introduced our incoming chaplain, Rev. Karen James, to the St. Patrick’s community. We gathered together in Chapel to say a prayer of blessing over her, and Rev. Karen shared a bit about herself with the students.

Then came the best part—questions from the students! They asked everything from “How many brothers and sisters do you have?” to “Do you have any pets?” to “Have you ever lived in another country?” (Spoiler: yes!)

We’re thrilled to welcome Rev. Karen into our St. Pat’s family! Here's a little bit about her background...

Originally from England, Reverend Karen moved to the United States in 2005 after living for nine years in Italy. She and her family have since made their home in Thousand Oaks.

Reverend Karen brings a rich background in education, having taught children and youth in schools and church settings across all three countries she has lived in. In December 2020, she retired from teaching to pursue her Master of Divinity, following a lifelong call to ministry.

An established member of the Thousand Oaks community, Reverend Karen has been a compassionate and empathetic leader within both the church and the broader community. She has spearheaded outreach programs, community service initiatives, and efforts to foster unity and support throughout the area. Her international experiences have broadened her perspective, enabling her to build meaningful connections with people from diverse backgrounds.

Recently ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church and currently serving at Church of the Epiphany in Oak Park, Reverend Karen is excited to return to a school environment, working once again with young people and fellow educators. She is honored to join the St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School team and looks forward to becoming part of the St. Pat’s community.
This morning, our first graders proudly presented This morning, our first graders proudly presented their informative reports to an audience of family and friends. Each student researched a season, along with a habitat and an animal that thrives in that season. Their research process included a special trip to the library and online exploration with help from Mrs Maartens and Mrs Crane.

After gathering information, students created a rough draft and final draft of their reports, then brought their learning to life with two creative projects: a 3D-printed item crafted in Tech class to represent their chosen habitat, and a ceramic piece made in Art class to reflect their season.

Today’s classroom presentations were a wonderful celebration of their hard work and creativity. We are so proud of our first grade scholars!
